Overview
The Pharmacy Dispenser plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, ensuring that patients receive their medications accurately and efficiently. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who is committed to providing excellent patient care and support within a pharmacy setting. The Pharmacy Dispenser will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to facilitate the safe and effective delivery of medications.
Duties
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications to patients, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of medication orders, including counting, measuring, and mixing pharmaceuticals as needed.
- Provide information to patients regarding their medications, including dosage instructions and potential side effects.
- Maintain accurate records of medication dispensed and inventory management.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure optimal patient outcomes through effective medication management.
- Support the pharmacy team in maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
- Participate in patient care initiatives, contributing to health education and medication adherence strategies.
Skills
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is highly desirable, providing foundational knowledge of pharmacy operations.
- Proficient in medication administration techniques and understanding of pharmacology principles.
- Strong commitment to patient care, demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills when interacting with patients.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in dispensing medications and managing inventory.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to complete tasks efficiently.
