The work pattern is fluctuating in a peak and trough pattern - advance notice will be given for all hours required - a true zero hours commitment but with regular work of an average 8 - 10 per week provided.
A dynamic opportunity has arisen for a personable and adaptable Personal Assistant to support a professional female with Cerebral Palsy in living an active, fulfilling and varied life. This is NOT a care role. While physical assistance is needed due to mobility and manual dexterity difficulties, personal care is not involved. No support with decision making or life management is required as the employer is fully autonomous. This is a practical support role, focusing on quality experiences - attending events, assisting with hosting professional events, assisting with travel and simply being on hand as a support, a friend and a companion.
A varied and exciting job is guaranteed. The role is perfect for someone with another part-time job or flexible freelance work - someone who is looking for meaningful and interesting work to supplement existing hours or to work around other commitments.
The Role Includes
- Providing practical and physical support during outings, professional & personal commitments, events, and day-to-day activities
- Assisting the employer in her professional role of the day-to-day running and management of a small charity (such as planning and co-hosting events, admin, or attending meetings)
- Occasionally travelling with the individual within the UK or internationally for either leisure or work purposes
- Occasionally staying with the young woman when family go away (24/7 not required, i.e. you would be expected to be around in the evenings to assist with a meal and to stay overnight)
- Supporting with life logistics such as appointments, errands, and social engagements
Essential Qualities
- Full clean UK driving licence held for 3 years (for insurance purposes). Confidence to drive and park a large 4x4 longer distances and on motorways
- A friendly, reliable and grounded presence, confident and comfortable in varied situations.
- Warm, outgoing and easy to chat in people focused environments
- Flexible, naturally adaptable and comfortable with change
- Reliable, punctual and committed
- Available for occasional weekend and evening work (agreed in advance)
- Confident, comfortable and available to travel
- Be capable of offering physical support (to lift manual wheelchair and walker)
Desirable Qualities
- Some experience of marketing and events management - online and in person
- An interest in sports/fitness - support employer's commitment to recreational sport & physical activity
