About the Role:
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Part-Time Stockperson to join our team on a progressive 230-cow robotic dairy farm. This is a hands-on, practical role working 1 to 2 days per week, ideal for someone looking to supplement their income or gain experience in modern dairy farming.
The role involves key daily tasks such as feeding cows and calves, bedding up, and scraping out housing areas to maintain a clean and healthy environment for our livestock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Feeding:
- Preparing and delivering feed to cows and calves
- Feeding of young calves and monitoring their condition
- Animal Husbandry:
- Maintain clean, dry, and well-bedded areas for cows and calves
- Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Scraping out housing areas to maintain hygiene standards
- Spreading fresh bedding in cubicles and pens
- Robotic Milking Support (as needed):
- Monitor cow flow through the milking robots
- Help guide cows to the robot when necessary
- Keep robot and surrounding areas clean and clear
Requirements:
- Prior livestock experience is an advantage but not essential—training can be provided
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to work independently and follow instructions
- Reliable, punctual, and observant
- Telehandler or tractor experience is a bonus
