The Nature Nook at Frampton Farm is a place where young people can explore, play, and connect with nature in meaningful ways. We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and experienced SEN Session Leader to join our team and lead inclusive, sensory-rich outdoor sessions for children aged 6 to 14 years who are mainly home educated or have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
This is a unique opportunity to work on a real farm with friendly animals and horticultural area, offering nature education and therapeutic practice, making a real difference in the lives of children and families.
About the Role
As SEN Session Leader, you’ll plan and deliver small-group nature-based sessions tailored to children with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and learning difficulties. You’ll work closely with families, carers, and our farm team to ensure sessions are welcoming, safe, and full of joy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead inclusive, engaging nature-based sessions tailored to children’s individual needs
- Foster a calm, supportive, and sensory-aware environment on-site at Frampton Farm
- Collaborate with parents / carers to adapt activities and communication styles
- Monitor and reflect on session outcomes and participant progress
- Ensure safeguarding, accessibility, and wellbeing remain central at all times
- Oversee and process AQA unit award scheme certification
About You:
- Experience working directly with children with SEND, ideally in educational, therapeutic, or outdoor settings
- A strong understanding of inclusive practice and sensory-friendly approaches
- Confident leading small groups and adapting activities in the moment
- Passionate about nature and the outdoors, with a creative and nurturing spirit
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., SEN, education, forest school, play therapy, social care) are a plus
- Will agree to an enhanced DBS check.
- Do safeguarding and first aid training.
