Job Title: Night Porter / Duty Manager / Maintenance

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile individual to join our vibrant and hardworking team at Samlesbury Hall. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role across multiple departments and is keen to become a key player in a dynamic hospitality/historic house setting.
As General Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting evening operations, supporting and relief managing events and ensuring all accommodation needs are met for overnight visitors. This is a live-in role, with a charming on-site two-bedroomed cottage included for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Duty Management:
- Oversee and support evening events and functions.
- Act as the contact on site during evenings and overnight.
- Ensure the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all guests during out-of-hours periods. Whilst reporting to line managers and directors
Bar & Events:
- Set up and prepare function and dining areas to a high standard for events and private functions.
- Provide support to the front of house team when necessary
Maintenance & Accommodation Support:
- Be on-call for any out-of-hours issues related to accommodation or spa facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor maintenance problems across the property
- Support with general upkeep and day-to-day maintenance of the site, as instructed by the Maintenance manager and directors
General Operations:
- Willingly assist across all departments as needed, including reception, kitchen, and parking management.
- Be the ‘go-to’ person for staff and guests, providing practical support wherever required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in bar management and/or hospitality operations.
- Confident in handling responsibility under pressure.
- A good all-rounder, willing to get involved in all areas of operation.
- Basic maintenance/DIY skills are essential.
- Strong customer service ethos with excellent communication skills.
- A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently.
- Being first aid trained would be advantageous
