Nursery Cook
Purpose of post
To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children in our care.

Main duties
- To be responsible for the weekly shopping list ensuring that you have sufficient ingredients to follow the settings menu and to provide food for the number of children in the setting.
- To prepare meals according to individual dietary requirements where necessary.
- To ensure meals and snacks are safely prepared, nutritionally balanced, of good quality and appropriate in quantity following government recommendations for Early Years and Child Care Settings.
- To have an understanding about regulations relating to allergies.
- To co-ordinate the serving of a two course mid-day meal, a light tea and an afternoon snack.
- To wash-up and put away the crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals and what has been used for dining.
- To have effective communication systems in place to ensure appropriate information is passed on.
- To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessments within the kitchen area, including all required record keeping.
- To be responsible for food safety within the setting including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation .
- To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.
- Training can be provided.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 25 per week
Salary: £12.50 per hour dependant on experience.
Schedule: 9.15am- 2.30pm (includes a 15 minute break)
