Stepping Stone Projects is an established and growing charity providing quality homes and services to help prevent homelessness and transform lives across the North West.
Our support services are aimed at helping our customers develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to maintain a stable home and a structured lifestyle before assisting them in the process of securing or retaining permanent independent accommodation.
We are looking for Night Concierge Officers to join us supporting two projects in Blackburn, on a FTC until 31 March 2026, with a view to coming permanent once we know the funding situation.
Cherry Bridge Lodge is a 24-hour staffed, 40-bed hostel in the centre of Blackburn. This project consists of 30 single occupancy rooms where a customer has their own room but shares some communal areas (lounge, toilets & bathrooms). There are also 5 x 2 bedroomed flats, where a customer has their own room but shares some communal areas (small lounge, kitchenette area & bathroom). This is a mixed-gender project for adults over the age of 18 with a variety of needs including mental health, substance/drug use, alcohol use and challenging behaviour. Customers are supported in a person-centred way to move on their own accommodation.
Skye Crescent Lodge is a 24-hour staffed, 64-bed hostel in the Shadsworth area of Blackburn. This consists of 60 single occupancy rooms, where a customer has their own room but shares some communal areas (lounge, toilets & bathrooms). This is a mixed-gender project for adults over the age of 18 with a variety of needs including mental health, substance/drug use, alcohol use and challenging behaviour. Customers are supported in a person-centred way to move on their own accommodation.
The role will be part of a team providing 24/7 services to customers based on site.
The Night Concierge Officers will work on a shift basis, hours will be an average of 40.25 per week worked between 8 pm-8 am.
As part of the role you will:
- Utilise CCTV to monitor the security and safety of SSP premises on an ongoing basis.
- Monitor the communal internal and external areas of the two schemes
- Make regular visual inspections of all internal and external communal areas of the supported housing projects.
- Assist customers in maintaining the security of their dwelling and communal areas, and to reduce or eliminate any noise or disturbance.
- Keep accurate logs and share information about events that have occurred in the night shift with the day workers.
- Perform light cleaning and assist in getting rooms ready for customer move-ins
- Occasionally sign up new customers in the evening, listen to customer concerns and treat all residents with respect
We would love to hear from you if:
- You have experience of dealing with vulnerable people from possible problematic background
- You have the ability to work with customers who have complex needs and who may be challenging to work with, and to respond to conflict situations in a calm yet firm manner
- You have the ability to support, cooperate and ‘teamwork’ with others to achieve common objectives
- You have an awareness of health and safety / personal safety issues in a support accommodation project
- You have an understanding of safeguarding issues
- You have the ability to act as an advocate and liaise with the relevant agencies
