Medical Secretary
Farnham Dene Medical Practice is a two site, GMS training practice, located in the beautiful Georgian market town of Farnham, with a patient list of approximately 14,700.
We are looking to recruit a part-time Medical Secretary to join our busy, friendly and supportive Practice. The role is based across our two sites - within Farnham Centre for Health and at the Lower Bourne (please note - there are limited public transport links to the Bourne, so the applicant should ideally be able to drive) and is 15-20 hours per week, spread over 3-4 days, with the potential for additional hours to cover any team absence.
You will need to be articulate, work well within a busy team and use your initiative. You will also need to be efficient, flexible and professional, with extremely good attention to detail.
Main purpose of post:
To provide secretarial and administrative support to the practice management team, doctors and other clinicians within the practice.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working as part of a team to provide an efficient audio typing service for GP's and clinicians as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, and patient referrals in an accurate and quality manner.
- To open and distribute post.
- Setting up and booking e-Referrals.
- To action admin related tasks received into the secretarial team.
- To forward and action emails received into the practice from patients and other healthcare services.
- To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
- Filing records.
Qualifications:
Essential - Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, functional Mathematics and English
Desirable - GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above)
Experience:
Essential - Experience of administrative duties
Desirable - Experience of working with the general public, experience of working in a healthcare setting
