Location: Grove Park (London)

Appointment Basis: Permanent

Salary: £40K + Benefits

Closing Date: 23rd June 2025

Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be our Logistics Operative at Grove Park, delivering high-performance material control and support in a fast-paced environment at Alstom?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge in Grove Park and apply your logistics and warehousing expertise in a cutting-edge rail industry setting. You’ll report to the Materials Controller and work alongside a dedicated and skilled team in Alstom UK&I.

Day-to-day, working in a warehousing and logistics environment, you’ll take ownership of key stores and logistics functions including goods receipt, material handling, and accurate stock management using the company’s systems. You’ll ensure material is delivered to internal and external customers on time, safely, and with full compliance to Health & Safety and quality standards. You’ll also play a key role in identifying improvement opportunities that enhance service levels, reduce costs, and support continuous improvement across the department.

We’ll also look to you to:

  • Receive deliveries and offload materials using proper manual handling techniques
  • Check quality and quantity of delivered goods against documentation
  • Process delivery issues using the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process
  • Accurately receive materials into the management system and store them correctly
  • Audit and manage serialised materials and system stock levels
  • Pick, pack, and issue materials to production and customers
  • Ensure safe and efficient material movement across storage locations and sites
  • Conduct racking and equipment safety checks and audits
  • Complete documentation accurately and maintain housekeeping standards (5S)
  • Proactively identify and support improvement initiatives to enhance logistics performance
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures and report any hazards
  • Liaise with internal departments to meet material requirements and resolve issues promptly

All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Valid manual handling certification (or willingness to complete training)
  • Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Warehousing/Logistics (desirable)
  • A reliable team player with strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing demands and priorities
  • Confident using stock management systems and Microsoft Office applications

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
  • Contribute to innovative projects
  • Utilise our agile working environment
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive benefits (pension, life ins., medical)

Equal opportunity statement:

Alstom is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive working environment where all our employees are encouraged to reach their full potential, and individual differences are valued and respected. All qualified applicants are considered for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by local law.
