Maintenence Engineer
The 'Fire Glass Journey' began in 2008 when we started out as a single cutting bench in the corner of a shared factory employing just two staff. In 2018 we celebrated our first decade in business with five Branches nationwide (and a separate Installations division) and now employ over 120 members of staff.
With a lot of hard work and dedication we have taken the company from a standing start to market leader for the supply of fire-rated and other specialist glass.
Fire Glass UK Ltd is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers, and glaziers of fire and acoustic glass, and is looking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer at their UK Branch based in Oldbury. Monday - Friday : 06:00am - 2:30pm / 2:30pm - 11:00pm (Rolling Shift)
Your Tasks
- Maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Diagnosing of breakdown problems.
- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards and respond to equipment faults.
- Carryout routine servicing of machines, tools and equipment.
- Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly.
- Conducting frequent checks on machinery and equipment to ensure no repair/maintenance is required.
- Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out - machinery, tools or equipment.
- Carry out quality inspections on jobs before requesting sign off by site management.
- Liaise with site management and other engineering and production colleagues as necessary to complete allocated tasks.
- Ensuring that all electrical equipment is in safe working order in line with current legislation.
- Ensuring the organisation complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place.
- The post holder must also undertake other duties within his/her competence or otherwise appropriate to the grading of the post as required.
- Comply with the company’s policies and procedures as set out within the Employee Handbook, Accreditations Manual (including Best Practice Quality Guide) and the Health and Safety Manual, as updated from time to time.
- Comply with the requirements for the role as set out within the company’s Integrated Management System (currently comprising of the Quality Management System, Environmental Management System and the Health and Safety Management System), as updated from time to time.
- Comply with the requirements of any Core Duties or other relevant procedural or policy document applicable to your role.
Your Profile
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge of production engineering skills, modern maintenance techniques and practices.
- Computer literate – display sound skills in IT with an ability to analyse data efficiently and accurately.
- Evidence of monitoring /assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Experience of identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions within an engineering environment.
- Ability to prioritise workload, and manage multiple activities with consideration to deadlines.
- Demonstrate an ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations and the environment change the outcome.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independence in carrying out the role. Experience of obtaining and ensuring appropriate use of equipment, facilities and materials. Experience of conducting tests and inspections of machines, products or processes to evaluate quality and or performance.
- Experience of using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally with service users at all levels.
- Develop and co-ordinate project plans; manage project activities to ensure completed on time and within budget.
- Broad electrical engineering bias with a mechanical engineering background is essential
- Sound knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance is essential
- Qualification: specify type and level required (including equivalents); if any.
- C & G level 2 in electrical engineering or equivalent is essential.
