Are you a skilled, hands-on problem solver who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, comfortable, and running smoothly?Optima Care is looking for a proactive and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our friendly team and support our two welcoming nursing homes in Baylham and Barham.In this role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring our residents live in a well-maintained, safe, and pleasant environment. No two days will be the same — from routine checks to essential repairs, you’ll be the go-to person who keeps everything working as it should.What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and safety checks across both homes.
- Using your carpentry and joinery skills — particularly in repairing and maintaining doors and fittings.
- Supporting with plumbing or electrical work (if qualified), plus PAT testing where applicable
- Responding to out-of-hours maintenance needs as part of an on-call rota.
- Health & Safety Audits to equipment and the Homes Environment.
- Performing practical tasks such as drain rodding when needed.
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely, in line with all current regulations, and to a high standard.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in general maintenance and building repairs, with a specialism in carpentry/joinery.
- Practical knowledge in plumbing or electrics is an advantage.
- PAT testing qualification or willingness to obtain.
- Confident using basic computer skills for logging tasks and reporting.
- A clean UK driving licence and your own vehicle (travel between our two sites is essential).
- A flexible, can-do attitude and pride in a job well done.
