An exciting opportunity has become available within the Science and Access to Higher Education team at Coventry College. We are looking for an inspiring and innovative Applied Science Lecturer to join our growing department and help drive learner success.
The successful candidate has experience delivering innovative, interactive sessions that engage and challenge learners on BTEC Applied Science or Biomedical Science qualifications that leads to strong learner outcomes. They are a flexible team player, committed to continuous professional development and curriculum innovation.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer to join our team, delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to support our learners in achieving their full potential. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons that meet curriculum standards and reflect industry needs.
As a Lecturer at Coventry College, you'll contribute to curriculum development, provide academic and pastoral support to learners, and work closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure an outstanding learning experience. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation and help shape the future workforce of our city.
You will deliver high-quality, engaging teaching across a range of Science programmes, including BTEC Applied Science, Biomedical Science, and Access to Higher Education courses. You will also act as a Course Tutor, supporting, inspiring, and guiding learners towards their academic and career goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching a mixture of applied science units, many with a more biological or practical weighting.
- Embedding subject expertise and practical skills into all aspects of delivery.
- Monitoring learner progress, providing effective feedback, and implementing strategies for success.
- Contributing to curriculum development, resource planning, and ongoing improvement of teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Supporting the team with Synoptic Exam preparation and invigilation where required.
Requirements
Must-Have:
- Holds a degree (or equivalent) in a Science-related subject, with a strong specialism in Biology preferred
- Holds (or is working towards) a recognised teaching qualification
- Holds a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
- Has relevant vocational experience in the science sector
- Experience of teaching BTEC qualifications
