We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide essential assistance and support to individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion within the community. This position requires a proactive approach to care, ensuring that each individual receives personalised support tailored to their unique needs.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Implement individual care plans and monitor progress, making adjustments as necessary to meet changing needs.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages independence and self-advocacy among clients.
- Engage in social activities and community involvement to promote social inclusion.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and communicate effectively with team members and other professionals.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in disability support.
- Utilise administrative skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Support clients to use available resources and services that can assist them in their daily lives.
Requirements
- Previous experience in disability support or a related field is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Demonstrating the ability to support less experienced staff.
- Familiarity with public health principles and practices is advantageous.
- Experience in social media management is a plus for promoting awareness of disability services within the community.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of disability support.
- a drivers licence is essential and have a car, with business insurance.
