Once qualified in L4 Education and Training and after completion of relevant RMT courses and increased length of service, there is a potential to earn up to the FTE £26,834 per annum

Argent College is located in the Standard Works, in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham. The former jewellery factory has been transformed into a college, the highly commended Hive Café and Bakery, a heritage centre, community spaces and an urban rooftop micro-farm. Argent College is part of Ruskin Mill Trust.
Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales. We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences. Our research-led method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, is inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris. An exciting opportunity has become available to support Tutors in the delivery of high-quality practical skills, teaching and learning.
The role includes working with young people with special needs, who come to learn and work as part of their Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) programme at Argent College, Jewellery Quarter, an independent specialist college run by Ruskin Mill Trust.
Applicants must have experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and be willing to support any craft sessions as required.
The key duties in this role will include:
- To assist the Urban Rooftop Garden Manager (Biodynamic) with the annual garden maintenance cycle and seed-to-table offer for the college community.
- To assist other tutors, as necessary in the implementation of individual Educational Programmes for students and where appropriate monitor and record their progress.
- To develop skills and knowledge as an apprentice and therapeutic educator.
- To assist with the maintenance of student records and to complete student records as required when timetabled with specific students.
- To assist with the planning of activities and plan activities for specific students as required.
- To support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
- To familiarise with student background information, profile and risk assessment wherever reasonably possible.
- To be a part of the on-going assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustment as required to minimise barriers to learning and achievement.
- To support the Tutor to report on student progress in line with students’ individual targets and aspirations.
- To support the Tutor to deliver qualifications.
- Be flexible and adaptable enough to support in a variety of sessions.
- To report any occurrences, serious occurrences or accidents promptly to the support and attendance team and tutor.
To undertake this position successfully, you will have:
- Knowledge of specialist education;
- Experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and challenging behaviour;
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
