About The Job
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Lead/Senior Underwriter - Professional Indemnity to join our growing Casualty team. In this key leadership role, you will take ownership of the underwriting of the international professional indemnity portfolio which covers a wide range of sectors and territories.
As the lead/senior underwriter, you will guide and mentor the team and collaborate with brokers, clients, and internal teams to deliver high-quality insurance solutions.
About the Job:
- Lead and manage the underwriting of the international professional indemnity portfolio, ensuring accuracy, profitability, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Proactively develop and pursue new business opportunities, products and clients.
- Provide strategic direction on underwriting practices and procedures to drive profitable growth.
- Work closely with brokers and clients to assess complex risks, offering expert advice and delivering customized insurance solutions.
- Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to maximise profitability and maintain competitive product offerings.
- Collaborate with the claims team to understand claims trends and work to reduce exposure.
- Report on team performance, underwriting results, and market conditions to senior management and Lloyd’s.
What you’ll need:
- Significant experience in professional indemnity, with a broad understanding across multiple sectors/professions - ideally with experience in a lead or senior underwriting position.
- Proven leadership ability with experience managing or mentoring a team.
- Strong negotiating, networking and relationship-building skills.
- Confident and comfortable presenting to small and large groups.
- Exceptional analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., ACII, or similar) preferred.
