About Wharfedale Property Management
We are a small commercial property management company retained to manage and develop the Thorp Arch Estate on behalf of a large property fund. The Estate is located 2 miles east of Wetherby and comprises almost 2 million sqft of commercial buildings within a 385-acre parkland setting and has seen significant investment in developments in recent years.
Preferred Candidate
The imminent retirement of the existing landscape contractor after 50 years of maintaining the Estate, provides an opportunity for a candidate with wide range of landscaping and maintenance skills to join the Estate’s small maintenance team. The position primarily involves ground maintenance but will also include some commercial property maintenance tasks with the new Maintenance Operative reporting to the Estate Maintenance Manager. The role is based on the Thorp Arch Estate and offers a variety of work within a small and friendly team environment and the ideal candidate will be reliable and have a flexible approach with the ability to react to urgent tasks.
Skills & Experience Required
o Full UK Driving License
o Experience of landscape maintenance with appropriate skills
o Experience of property maintenance would be beneficial but not essential
o Cross cutting chain saw qualification would be beneficial but not essential
o Mobile platform qualification would be beneficial but not essential
o First aid qualification would be beneficial but not essential
o Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a small team
General Duties
o Ground Maintenance:
· Grass cutting using ride on and push mower
· Reseeding and dressing grassed areas
· Weeding shrub beds
· Strimming banks and hedge cutting
· Tree maintenance - cross cutting chain saw but not felling (with qualification)
· Litter picking and removal of rubbish
· Spraying of weedkiller(with qualification)
· Lifting manhole lids and clearing blocked drains
· Clearance and maintenance of open ditches and dykes
· Clearing of overgrown areas
· Pruning of small trees and planting of trees
· Road sweeping using both mechanical and hand sweeping
· Road gritting and snow clearance
· Erection and maintenance of hedges, fences and gates
· Tractor driving and trailer hauling
· Maintenance and upkeep of Estate machinery
o Property maintenance / “handyman”:
· Minor plumbing tasks - changing leaky tap, toilet cistern
· Changing door and window locks
· Inspecting and boarding up redundant buildings
· Gutter clearance
· Painting
· Signage maintenance
· Sweeping & cleaning
· Clearing vacant buildings including minor non-structural dismantling works
o Reading utility meters
o Furniture removal
o Such other duties as the Estate owner shall reasonably require
