We are looking for a LAND DRAINAGE OPERATIVE to join our team in the Trent Valley area.
Salary: £35,409.92 to £36,022.48 (depending on experience)
Full Time, fixed term contract (minimum 12-months)
38 hours per week (plus overtime subject to workload)
23 days holiday plus bank holidays and three statutory days

A vacancy has arisen for a Land Drainage Operative to join a small team working across the Trent Valley area, providing flood protection and water level management for the local communities. This will be based at one of our Depots (Orston, Torksey, Sturton Le Steeple or Southwell) but will involve working on site across the district.
Duties include:
· Watercourse maintenance - using excavator and/or tractor mounted flail
· General labouring
· Chainsaw and strimming operations
· Clearance of weed grids (mechanically and by hand)
· General construction works (culverting, installation of headwalls etc)
The ability to work on your own initiative in a positive, responsible and safe manner, and flexibility to cover our seasonal works plan is essential. A full driving licence is required. A vehicle may be provided for business use, but use of own vehicle will also be required.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience, be familiar with the area and the work of an IDB. Excavator experience and/or qualification is essential. Tractor driving, NPTC chainsaw, strimming and spraying qualifications would be an advantage.
The Board also provides 24/7 emergency response and in the event of flooding or heavy rainfall, employees may be called upon to respond; this could involve working weekends and unsocial hours on occasion.
