Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff with food preparation and meal preparation, ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced environment within the catering or restaurant industry. All applicants must have previously with Marston' company or a similar food trade, we also provide accommodation with low weekly cost.
Duties
- Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
- Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper storage of ingredients and maintaining hygiene practices.
- Support meal preparation by assembling dishes according to recipes and specifications.
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the Manager or supervisor.
- Participate in catering events as required, helping to set up and serve food items.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods.
Skills
- Good knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills is preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in a kitchen environment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A proactive attitude towards learning new skills related to cooking and kitchen operations.
- Previous experience in a catering or restaurant environment is advantageous but not essential.
