Job Summary:
We are looking for skilled and experienced Sushi Chefs to join our vibrant sushi kiosks in Ashton-under-Lyne, Burnage, and East Didsbury. The ideal candidate will have prior experience preparing sushi, possess strong knife skills, and be confident in handling and cutting fresh fish. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality sushi and Japanese-inspired street food in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of sushi items including nigiri, maki, sashimi, and poke bowls
- Cut and portion fresh fish with precision and care
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene
- Follow recipes and portion guidelines to control waste and ensure consistency
- Set up and maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Monitor stock levels and communicate with management about inventory needs
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Provide friendly, efficient service to customers when needed
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience preparing sushi (minimum 1 year preferred)
- Excellent knife skills – fast, accurate, and safe
- Knowledge of fish cutting and handling techniques
- Understanding of food hygiene standards and allergen protocols
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Food Safety Level 2 (or willing to obtain)
- Experience working in kiosks or food-to-go environments
- Passion for Japanese cuisine and street food trends
