Description
We are recruiting for International Actuarial Associate Director for our market-leading Integrated and Global Solutions (IGS) Practice based in London. Our mission is to advise multinational companies’ headquarters on all aspects of pensions and benefits provided to workforces around the world. This covers both strategic and operational activity.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a fully qualified actuary to join a large, diverse and successful team. We have an enviable client portfolio that focuses on multi-national companies across all sectors, including Pharmaceutical, Financial Services, Oil & Gas/Natural Resources, Retail, Construction and Engineering and Manufacturing.
Multinational companies face a variety of business, cultural, language and regulatory environments. We help companies to navigate these challenges in relation to pensions, benefits and employment structures. We advise multinational companies on certain specialist topics where the IGS has unique experience, and we also act as a single point of contact to help solve client questions where we draw on the expertise of all our colleagues from around the world.
Responsibilities:
This role will entail a combination of leading and supporting activity for our multinational clients in the growth and delivery of global actuarial, M&A support and other consulting services relating to actuarial and employee benefits, as well as coordinating local consulting services on these matters. The role is positioned at a senior level and therefore requires significant leadership, business development, and strategic consulting responsibilities.
This role will include:
- Leading and overseeing global pensions accounting consolidation projects under internationally recognized financial reporting standards, and advising multinational clients in relation to these accounting requirements. This includes project management, assumption setting, special events reporting, coordination of results, and production of disclosures and reports to support these disclosures.
- Acting as a trusted senior advisor to client executives, influencing strategic decision-making in areas such as global benefit financing, governance, and risk management.
- Coordinating and managing diverse client teams to support lead and mid-level consultants in delivering advice to the headquarters of our multinational clients on employee benefit matters around the world. This includes working in broad teams from across WTW to support on the IGS elements of wider client engagements. Areas of advice could include benefit design, local compliance, local and global governance processes, M&A activity, provider selection and benefit delivery, global benefit financing, and risk management structures.
- Driving business growth by partnering with client lead relationship managers to originate and expand business opportunities, and by actively contributing to pipeline development.
- Coordinating and project managing multi-country projects such as global benefits benchmarking exercises, M&A activity, total rewards alignment and cost optimisation projects, data analytics, and governance processes.
- Leading the use of WTW technology to help clients maximise value from the information collected.
- Contributing to WTW’s intellectual capital through thought leadership, market insights, and development of innovative methodologies or solutions.
- Building relationships internally and collaborating effectively on cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
- Taking an active role in firm-wide initiatives, representing the actuarial practice in cross-line-of-business opportunities.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Fellowship-level qualification as an Actuary, with demonstrable experience advising senior client stakeholders and preparing IFRS and/or US GAAP pensions accounting disclosures.
- A keen interest in the international benefits arena and proven ability to operate effectively in a global consulting environment.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple concurrent demands.
- Proven experience in leading consulting engagements with global and executive-level stakeholders, demonstrating advanced consulting skills including strategic influence, negotiation, and facilitation of high-stakes discussions.
- Demonstrated business development capability, including pipeline contribution, proposal development, and successful conversion of opportunities into revenue.
- Team leadership experience, with a track record of guiding and supporting colleagues.
- Aptitude for developing junior and mid-level colleagues through both formal and informal mentoring.
- Sound understanding of the nuances of working across borders, diverse cultures, and multinational organisations.
- Ability to adapt positively to change and work confidently in dynamic, client-facing environments.
- While technical expertise is required, the ability to interpret and apply technical information to deliver practical, consultative advice is essential.
- High attention to detail in reviewing and delivering consistently high-quality outcomes, coupled with a proactive approach to client service.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to manage multiple stakeholder groups.
- Ability to build and leverage a strong internal network with WTW colleagues globally.
- Visible market presence — through publications, conference speaking, or active participation in professional forums — would be an advantage.
- A positive, approachable attitude and strong motivation for continuous learning and growth.
