Overview
5 day week inc one day off at the weekend apart from stay away show weeks, where an extra day off will be given of your choice
Shared yard duties, walker turn out etc
Plenty of nice horses to ride if wanted/ capable Will be expected to attend the stay away shows usually once a month 5-6 horses with helpful rider
We have a really friendly yard with tea and lunch break Ideally to help with the breakers (all our homebreds or been here since foals no wild ones!)
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Horse Groom to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and maintenance, demonstrating a passion for equine welfare. This role involves ensuring the health and well-being of horses through daily grooming, feeding, and general upkeep of the stables. A keen eye for detail and the ability to perform heavy lifting are essential for success in this position.
Occasionally will be left in sole charge of the yard.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily grooming, including brushing, bathing, and hoof care for horses
- Feed and water horses according to established schedules and dietary requirements
- Maintain cleanliness in stables, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for the animals
- Assist with basic veterinary care as needed, including administering medications
- Operate hand tools and power tools for equipment maintenance and repairs
- Monitor horse behaviour and health, reporting any concerns to management promptly
- Assist with loading and unloading horses during transport as required
- Grooming away at shows 5-6 days at a time
- tacking up for rider and washing off etc
- warm up jumps
Requirements
- Ideally good riding flatwork (Jumping if possible) skills
- Good management skills, time keeping, forward planning, self motivated
- Proven experience in animal care, particularly with horses
- Basic math skills for measuring feed quantities or calculating medication dosages
- Capability to perform heavy lifting as part of daily duties
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of care
- A genuine passion for working with animals and ensuring their well-being
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £10.00-£13.00 per hour
