About the Team:
Exciting Opportunity: Homeless Prevention Advisor – Family Adolescent Support Team (FAST)

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Social Worker to join our established Family Adolescent Support Team (FAST) in a permanent, full-time role based in the East Team.

FAST provides high-quality, targeted support to some of Warwickshire’s most vulnerable teenagers. Our work focuses on young people and families under Child in Need plans, particularly where the primary concerns involve extra-familial harm, substance misuse, Tier 4 hospital discharges, and 16/17-year-old homelessness. We also support young people who are on the edge of care due to these complex issues.

As part of FAST, you will have the opportunity to work creatively within a multi-disciplinary setting, promoting disruption to contextual risks and increasing safety for young people in their communities. You will collaborate closely with a range of multi-agency professionals, including the police, safer neighbourhood teams, youth workers, and education providers.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people while working in a supportive and innovative team environment.

Our Offer to you includes:
  • Supportive managers who provide recognition and a robust supervision policy focussed on wellbeing and workload.
  • A Volunteering & Wellbeing Day in addition to generous annual leave and an additional day at Christmas
  • We also offer a Refer a Friend package scheme for some roles, Terms & Conditions apply

About the Role:
Working hours: permanent and full time- 37 hours, with flexible working options available

We are recruiting for the role of Homeless Prevention Advisor in our FAST Team covering Warwickshire, based in East.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Homeless Prevention Worker to join our FAST Team, delivering a countywide service across Warwickshire. This permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week) plays a vital part in preventing youth homelessness and ensuring that young people only enter care when it is truly in their best interests and no safe alternatives exist within their family or friendship networks.

You will:
  • Conduct Joint Assessments: Work closely with Housing staff to carry out joint assessments under the Joint Housing Protocol when 16/17-year-olds present as homeless and in need of accommodation.
  • Prevent Entry into Care: Collaborate with agencies to explore safe alternatives within a young person’s family or friendship network, ensuring care is only considered when necessary.
  • Provide Information and Access: Ensure young people are informed about where and how to access support services, helping them navigate available resources effectively.
  • Deliver Training: Co-facilitate training sessions for both professionals and young people to raise awareness and understanding of youth homelessness and prevention strategies.
  • Work Across Services: Build strong working relationships with district and borough councils, Safeguarding and Support Teams, The House Project, Children in Care Services, Independence Training Programmes, and Targeted Youth Support to deliver a coordinated response.
Salary: up to £35,235 per annum

Key Requirements:
  • Relevant Experience: Experience working with homeless or at-risk young people, including care-experienced individuals and those involved in housing services.
  • Knowledge & Understanding: Strong grasp of homelessness legislation, prevention strategies, and the ability to assess and plan support effectively.
  • Analytical & Emotional Resilience: Able to analyse complex situations, manage emotional demands, and respond independently to challenges.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and produce high-quality reports under pressure.
  • Practical Requirements: Confident using IT systems, able to travel across the county (driving licence required or reasonable adjustments considered), and subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
If you want to build strong relationships and connections with families, join Warwickshire’s Children and Families service.
