Salary: £29,064 - £31,537 pro-rata

Hours: Full Time contract, four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday but flexibility to work on a Thursday instead of another day on occasion may be required). 30 hours per week. In addition, could be part of an out of hours standby rota to respond to homelessness emergencies within the locality area (additional financial incentives for participation).
You are expected to hold a valid UK drivers’ licence and have access to your own vehicle that can be used for work purposes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Housing Options team at North Yorkshire Council. The team is part of the Housing Needs Service, which will lead on delivering the Council’s Homeless and Rough Sleeping strategy and in delivering the Council’s bold ambitions around homeless prevention.

Essential
- You will bring a passion for delivering high quality services to our customers, often those in the most need, which will meet the needs of our vulnerable communities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills are a must: The ability to exchange information effectively with colleagues, customers, and external agencies to solve problems and make decisions. The role also requires the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in using IT systems to manage case files.
- Customer Service Skills: Experience of working with vulnerable people, awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and basic knowledge of welfare benefits.
Desirable
- Knowledge & Experience: Good knowledge of other agencies working in the district. Good knowledge of current housing issues.
