HOME SUPPORT WORKER
Title of Post: Home Support Worker (Part-time/Flexible)
Home Responsible to: Home Support Coordinator
Hours of Work: Up to 16 hours per week, usually working between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.
Place of Work: Based at the registered offices, 145-147 Derby Road, Stapleford, Nottingham, NG9 7AS.
Working in the south of the Borough of Broxtowe and surrounding areas.
Purpose of Post:
To provide direct Home Support to Older People living in Broxtowe and surrounding areas, to enable them to remain living safely and independently in their own homes. This may mean personalising the level of individual support required to provide befriending, shopping, cleaning, and light meal preparation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Visit older people in their own homes and agree an individual Home Support service to meet the clients’ needs.
- Liaise with the Home Support Coordinator, to ensure that service delivery is appropriate to the individual.
- Arrange and prioritise requirements of service users. Plan and undertake these visits ensuring good practice.
- Publicise and promote our services where appropriate.
- Maintain records/diary/job sheets on a daily basis and any other documentation that may be required.
- Cash Handling of payments for services or shopping, giving receipts for same.
PERSON SPECIFICATION – HOME SUPPORT WORKER
- An understanding of the needs and concerns of older people
- An understanding of data protection.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to interpret and collect data.
- Ability to work in a methodical manner and follow procedures.
- Ability to organise your own workload using your own initiative.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to remain calm under pressure.
- Able to communicate effectively.
- Good time management skills.
Desirable Experience/Requirements:
- Working with older people, carers, and statutory, voluntary and independent sector organisations.
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate, or willing to train if required.
Work Related Circumstances:
A degree of flexibility is required for this role and the person must be prepared to sometimes work outside office hours if necessary.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
Work Location: In person
