Job Title: HOLMES Indexer - Homicide Team- Lewisham & Putney

Salary: The starting salary is £34,808, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £34,108. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

And by joining one of our Homicide Investigation Teams, you’ll play a crucial part in the policing London, which generates a large amount of work behind the scenes.

As a HOLMES Indexer, you’ll help us manage the intricate process of investigating serious crimes. You will be working as one of two indexers with in a busy Homicide team within Specialist Crime. You will be part of team within a busy working environment, supporting the unit in the investigation and detection of the most serious of crimes, getting documents processed to allow

With your excellent attention to detail, you’ll maintain designated indices on the Home Office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES), cross-reference information, raise any actions for investigation, and identify intelligence development opportunities. It’s about handling large volumes of material in an organised, methodical way, as well as working to agreed timelines. By doing so, we can be even more efficient solving or detecting crimes both swiftly and successfully. Some work may contain unpleasant details of offences, and information of a highly confidential nature.

This is a chance to be right at the heart of Homicide investigations. With staff and officers depending on you, high standards are crucial. It takes great communication and IT skills, balancing competing priorities, using your initiative, and supporting your colleagues.

Applicants are required to pass the HOLMES competency test and indexer course if not already trained prior to selection.
