Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all road safety regulations. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of vehicles, including flatbed lorries, for the delivery of goods.
- Ensure that all deliveries are made in accordance with company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery receipts.
- Communicate effectively with yard staff to coordinate loading and unloading of goods.
- Assist in the loading and unloading process as required, ensuring safe handling of products.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving to ensure safety on the road.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions with clients upon delivery.
- Overtime available
- This position may require occasional nights out
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with flatbed lorries.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle checks & troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to drive safely under various weather conditions and navigate different routes efficiently.
- A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type being operated is essential.
