Main Purpose of the Job:

The Health & Safety Business Partner (HSBP) will be expected to:

  • Act as a subject matter expert to airport line management and key stakeholders on all Occupational Health & Safety matters pertaining to their areas.
  • Have an excellent understanding of all HSE regulations, with the ability to adapt them to LCY requirements by producing, training and implementing through relevant procedures, programmes, manuals, and instructions.
  • Develop strategies to continuously improve the safety at LCY.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the team of departmental Safety Champions, providing guidance and support to enhance their training and input to the overall safety of the airport.
  • Promote a proactive Health & Safety Culture and the LCY Just Culture aligned with the overall LCY Safety Culture.


Main Tasks of the Job:

  • Investigate injury/ill health to people caused by on-site accidents/incidents, and provide information as required to the HSE, especially regarding RIDDOR events.
  • Produce, promote, implement, and manage the H&S Manual.
  • Submit timely and accurate reports relating to safety incidents; supporting LCY departments as required with relevant investigation findings and actions.
  • Develop meaningful working relationships with line management and be seen as a trusted and critical partner to the business to help develop and evolve the safety system.
  • Produce, train, implement, and manage all H&S processes and procedures highlighted in the H&S Manual, and compliant with HSE and DfT legislation.
  • Close management of the LCY Safety Champions (in liaison with their department / line management), with added responsibility to develop the role as necessary to enhance the overall safety of the airport. Conduct & coordinate (with the Safety Champions) regular Health & Safety inspections.
  • Manage all the First Aid requirements (personnel and equipment) for LCY.
  • Work closely with the wider Safety Team to ensure that all requirements of the roles are completed.
  • Provide relevant inputs into, and attendance at, all Safety Reports & Meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annually).
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all third parties to enhance the safety of LCY.
  • Provide and assist the QM with H&S aspects of internal and external audits.
  • Use analytics and historical data (internal & external) to develop prevention and upskilling strategies to ensure the continuous safety of all employees, contractors, and stakeholders on LCY property.
  • Promote a proactive Health & Safety Culture and the LCY Just Culture aligned with the overall LCY Safety Culture.
  • Liaison with LCY Occupational Health provider as required for injured colleagues undergoing rehabilitation.
  • Any other Health & Safety task as directed by Senior Management.


Key Competencies:

  • An understanding of the aviation (airport) industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An excellent understanding of HSE regulations.
  • A good understanding of DfT, and UKHSA requirements which are relevant to LCY.
  • Excellent IT skills and familiar with the use of standard software applications.
  • Good analytical skills, with the ability to identify relevant H&S trends.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly to all staff and management while promoting a ‘Safe & Well’ working environment utilising information, training, and guidance.
  • Be a balanced decision maker with the ability to assess cost verses benefit alongside risk and probability


Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Essential)
  • Technical Member of IOSH (TechIOSH) (Essential)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Department (Desirable)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) (Desirable)
  • Graduate Member of IOSH (or working towards) (GradIOSH) (Desirable)
  • Level 4 English speaking & written (Minimum)


Hours of Work:

40 hours per week Monday-Friday
