To provide tailored support for a gentleman who has complex care needs. The aim and objective of the service is to provide him with the highest standards of care, support, quality of life, and health and wellbeing.
Employees should be enthusiastic about working as part of a team that has a strong focus on supporting the gentleman to achieve his goals and aspirations. Staff will be supported in their role through providing training for identified needs and through mentoring from manager and senior support staff.
The service is committed to providing a person-centred approach in order to support the gentleman. This entails building a good rapport with him which he generously makes possible.
The service supports the gentleman to live an independent personalized lifestyle in the family home, and in the community.
The Positive Emotional and Person-centred approach will focus on achievement and positive outcomes for the gentleman, Support Staff, and all other partnerships:
Remuneration: £15.20 per hour while in training period and £18.20 per hour when training is completed. (Training refers to bespoke elements of care including competencies for PEG)
Responsibilities
1. To complete all mandatory training courses.
2. Dressing and undressing, bathing, washing, oral hygiene and hair maintenance.
3. High standard of hygiene and adherence to infection control measures.
4. Stoma and catheter care.
5. Medication and other health related activities.
6. Manual Handling and transfers.
7. Eating, and meal preparation, and nutrition.
8. Handling personal possessions.
9. Handling, storage, and completion of relevant documentation in line with Policy & Procedure.
10. Actively promote and support “team working”.
11. Respecting that this is a family home, respecting privacy, treating family members and colleagues with respect and dignity, maintaining high levels of confidentiality.
12. Communication and emotional support.
13. Support in Education, Social Inclusion, Social Activities and Therapy.
14. To complete basic household tasks pertaining to the gentleman.
- undertake bespoke training appropriate to the individual to be able to complete the tasks below:
- administration of fluid and medication via PEG
- Gastrostomy feeding techniques
- administration of controlled drugs
- undertaking bladder washes
- taking lead role and responsibility on shift
- advanced positioning techniques
- decision making in the absence of RI
- completion of staff rotas
- act as a mentor to support staff and be a positive role model
- actively participate in a way that enhances the package of care delivered to the individual by contributing to reviews, policies, and protocols.
Only applicants with NVQ level 3 (including medication module) and above, will be considered.
