Cliff Villages Medical Practice is a two sited rural GP practice with 9100 patients, service the area of Waddington through to Leadenham.
We are looking for an additional Health Care Assistant to join our busy team.
Health Care Assistant (HCA)
Reports to:
Practice Lead Nurse / Practice Manager
Job Summary:
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) plays a vital role in supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse or GP, the HCA assists with clinical duties, health promotion, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations in the practice.
Key Responsibilities : Clinical Duties:
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as:
- Phlebotomy (blood taking)
- Blood pressure monitoring
- ECG recording
- Urinalysis
- Height, weight, and BMI measurements
- Simple wound care and dressings
- NHS Health Checks
- Flu and other vaccinations (if trained)
- Support GPs and nurses during minor procedures
- Ensure infection control procedures are followed
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records using SystmOne
- Prepare and stock clinical rooms
- Order and manage clinical supplies
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
Patient Support:
- Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice
- Offer reassurance and support to patients
- Signpost patients to appropriate services
Person Specification :Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT skills
Desirable:
- Experience in general practice
- Trained in phlebotomy, ECGs, and vaccinations
- Knowledge of SystmOne
Working Hours:
Flexible, typically between 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday but we have one late night a week until 8pm on a Tuesday and the Practice works 7 Saturdays a year. These are rotated amongst staff.
Salary:
Band 2-3, Depending on experience and qualifications
It is desirable that the successful applicant holds the Care Certificate although training can be arranged if necessary. The position is subject to a DBS and Right to Work checks.
Hours – 25- 30 per week and the candidate will need to be willing to work up to 8pm on our late night (presently Tuesday) and up to 4 Saturdays a year
