About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Library, Culture and Heritage Civic Engagement to join us in within the recently combined Library, Culture and Heritage Division. This role will lead on co-ordinating the Divisions strategic direction around civic engagement in line with the University strategy.
The role will involve providing advice and insight within the areas of culture and heritage and support the development of programmes of civic engagement activity with academic colleagues and external partners, as well as support the University’s Global and Civic engagement agenda.
About you
You will have strong working knowledge of the culture and/or heritage sector, with experience of engagement and influence with developing strategic partnerships at a senior level.
You will have well-developed engagement and communication skills, with strong experience of delivering engagement plans and projects.
You will have a track record in creating, monitoring and delivering strategic plans to support wider Institutional or Divisional objectives.
The ability to demonstrate strong network relationships within the cultural and/or heritage sector is desirable, but not essential.
About our Division
The Library, Culture & Heritage Division was established in 2024, consisting of the main Library, the Keep archive service (in partnership with East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council) and the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts interdisciplinary arts hub. The Division is currently planning its future strategy, making it an exciting time to join us.

Founded in 1961, the University Library is an important research facility with exceptional services and internationally significant collections. Today the Library is far more than a building and a collection of printed material. It plays a central role in the creation, publication, application and preservation of knowledge and research at our thriving University.
