Location: Poole’s Cavern, Buxton
Salary: £25,500 – £27,000 (depending on experience)
Contract: Fixed-term to 30 April 2026 (funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours/week) with some weekend flexibility
About Us
Buxton Civic Association (BCA) is a dynamic environmental and heritage charity, working to preserve and enhance the unique built and natural environment of Buxton. We are the proud custodians of over 160 acres of woodlands, including Buxton Country Park and Grin Low, and the operators of Poole’s Cavern—Buxton’s most visited attraction. With a rich heritage and an ambitious vision, we’re driving forward conservation, sustainability, and public engagement.
In 2024, Buxton was named one of the best places to live in the UK. Now’s your chance to work at the heart of this vibrant town and help shape its future.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to help embed and deliver the final phase of a major National Lottery Heritage Fund project, as we build towards our Diamond Anniversary in 2027.
As Project Coordinator, you will support volunteer development, community engagement, and project evaluation. You’ll work closely with our Head of Operations and Membership & Marketing Officer to ensure we meet—and exceed—our project outcomes. This hands-on role includes volunteer coordination, assisting with events, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting marketing and evaluation work. It’s ideal for someone organised, people-focused, and looking to make a real difference.
What You’ll Do
· Help coordinate and support BCA’s thriving volunteer programme
· Assist in promoting BCA and growing membership through local engagement
· Support delivery of project goals and maintain accurate records
· Help evaluate the project and gather feedback from visitors and volunteers
· Collaborate with staff across woodlands, visitor services, marketing, and more
· Act as an ambassador for BCA and our mission
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to come from a heritage background—we’re looking for someone with:
· Excellent communication and organisational skills
· Confident in working with a variety of people (staff, volunteers, partners, public)
· Basic IT skills and attention to detail
· A proactive, positive, and flexible attitude
· A genuine interest in community, conservation, and heritage
Experience with volunteer coordination, data entry, event planning, or customer service is a bonus.
