We are recruiting a Head Gardener to join the team at the Thurlestone Hotel.
Live in accommodation is available in our fully refurbished staff accommodation just a 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
Thurlestone Hotel & Spa is a luxury, family-owned, 4-star 65-bedroom hotel situated on the spectacular South Devon coast. The hotel includes the 2 AA Rosette Trevilder Restaurant, Voyage Spa, 9-hole golf course, The Village inn Pub as well as a range of sports facilities including tennis and a seasonal kids club.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, instigate and monitor plant and tree care programmes including design, landscaping, propagation, planting, irrigation, weeding, grass cutting, strimming, rubbish maintenance and general garden and facilities maintenance.
- Engage the General Manager and owners, in the creation and delivery of a garden management plan.
- Management of plant collections, ongoing garden operations and horticulture features.
- Ongoing responsibilities include allocating work load/tasks to grounds staff and developing routine schedules, conducting risk assessments, monitoring work.
- Regular interaction with hotel residence, visitors and customer groups to enhance their experience of Thurlestone Hotel.
- Manage all garden project activities to ensure they are carried out on schedule and within allocated budgets, employing the assistance of external labour/organisations where necessary and when allowed.
- Lead, motivate and support ground staff, promote smooth working relationships, encourage internal co-operation and team working to maximise the effectiveness of this resource.
