Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Ward

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and creative individual to join our adult acute mental health inpatient ward as a Therapeutic Activity Worker (Band 3). This role is vital in supporting patient recovery by delivering meaningful, person-centred therapeutic activities that promote engagement, wellbeing, and positive mental health.

About the Ward

Our adult acute admission wards provides short-term, intensive support for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. We aim to create a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment that encourages patient participation in therapeutic interventions as part of their care and treatment plan.

Role Overview

As a Therapeutic Activity Worker, you will play a key role in enhancing the daily experience of patients on the ward. Working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, you will deliver and support a variety of structured and informal therapeutic activities—both one-to-one and in group settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a range of therapeutic activities tailored to patient needs, such as:
  • Guided walks within hospital grounds
  • Stress management and relaxation sessions
  • Basic sleep hygiene and routine planning
  • Arts, crafts, and creative expression
  • Mindfulness, music, and reminiscence-based sessions
  • Work collaboratively with nursing, occupational therapy, and medical staff to identify and support patient activity goals
  • Build therapeutic relationships that encourage engagement, motivation, and recovery
  • Support the safe and inclusive facilitation of groups and maintain clear boundaries and appropriate interactions at all times
  • Contribute to care planning, reviews, and documentation as appropriate to the role
