Net Zero Careers Accelerator (NZCA) is recruiting on behalf of a valued client for the position of Grounds person. This is a practical, outdoor-based role suited to someone who is physically fit, enjoys hands-on work, and is happy to work in all weather conditions.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining green spaces to a high standard, contributing directly to cleaner, more sustainable environments.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out scheduled grounds maintenance tasks on time and to specification
- Operate a variety of equipment including rotary and ride-on mowers, strimmers, blowers, etc.
- Perform general gardening work: weeding, spraying, planting, pruning, leaf clearance
- Maintain hedges, shrubs, and flower beds to a clean and tidy standard
- Sweep paths, remove litter, and clear waste before and after mowing
- Assist with seasonal planting and small landscaping projects
- Perform hardstanding and kerb edge maintenance as required
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures including correct use of PPE and chemicals (COSHH)
- Maintain and care for company tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Use digital tools (e.g. Timegate) to track attendance, update task progress, and log work with photos
- Report site issues such as fly-tipping, graffiti, or emergencies to supervisors
What We’re Looking For:
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work in all weather
- Experience in grounds maintenance is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided
- Full UK driving licence is required
- Good understanding of Health & Safety best practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with good communication skills
