Gardener
Salary: £11,938 (full time equivalent of£27,234)
Location: Cambridge, St Edmunds College
Contract type: Permanent, Part Time (16 hours per week)
We are looking for a green fingered individual who will ensure the efficient day-to-day upkeep of the College’s gardens and grounds.
Job responsibilities
- Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, pruning hedges and small trees, removing rubbish, managing weed control, leaf clearing and watering the plants.
- Plant and nurture plants, hedges, trees as required, including the maintenance of boarders.
- Advising your manager as required of any garden pests or diseases and taking appropriate action.
- Sweep all paths and hard surfaced areas around College, carrying out snow-clearing and frost gritting in the winter months.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained in the correct and safe manner
- Keep the garden shed clean, tidy and safe
What we need
The successful candidate will have the ability to follow instructions whilst taking a proactive approach. They will be self motivated with the ability to work unsupervised and to a high standard whilst understanding the requirements of the role.
The successful candidate must have:
- Previous experience in gardening
- Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety with the ability to comply with and update knowledge
- Full clean driving license
- Good knowledge of gardening, plants, lawncare and glasshouse work
- Experience using & maintaining gardening machinery
