Garden Centre Supervisor
Full-Time Role (Alternate Weekends)
Location: Maidenhead

We are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced horticulturalist to join our team, to assist the Garden Centre Manager in the day to day running of the business and maximise onward growth opportunities.
Reporting to the Garden Centre Manager and Directors, we’re looking for someone who wants to play a key part in shaping our growth.
Responsibilities:
Operational & People Support
- Work alongside the Garden Centre Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the centre, covering everything from opening and closing duties to stock control and customer experience.
- Step up as deputy when the Manager is off-site, taking full responsibility for the team and the site’s performance.
- Support with staff training, coaching and appraisals, helping colleagues grow their skills and ensuring everyone delivers excellent service.
- Help coordinate staff rotas, ensuring effective coverage during peak seasonal periods.
Plant Care & Standards
- Oversee plant health, irrigation, and pest management, ensuring plants are well-maintained and retail areas always look their best.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and overall site presentation.
Plant Expertise & Stock Management
- Partner with the Manager on selecting and sourcing high-quality plants from UK and European suppliers, ensuring the centre offers the best range and seasonal stock.
- Monitor stock levels, track plant performance and sales, and feedback on emerging trends or customer requests.
Visual Merchandising & Customer Experience
- Help design and implement visually appealing displays that inspire customers and drive sales.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and share your horticultural knowledge, supporting the team to do the same.
Strategic Input
- Contribute ideas to seasonal campaigns, events, promotions, and longer-term business planning.
Key Skills and Requirements:
- A qualified Horticulturalist, with previous Garden Centre retail and purchasing experience.
- A sound knowledge of the Horticultural retail sector.
- Proven experience of establishing and maintaining exceptionally high visual merchandising techniques and standards.
- Previous experience managing a small team.
- Experience of Health & Safety implementation.
- A fork-lift operator’s licence would be an advantage, but not essential
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
