Are you ready to take your first step into the world of finance with the UK's largest employer?

We're looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and detailed-oriented individual to join our Finance Team as a Financial Services Apprentice at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced finance department. While studying towards a nationally recognised qualification - all while contributing to the vital work of the NHS.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

In this role, you will assist the Financial Services Assistant in the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts including:

  • Ensure all postings in relation to accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll are posted accurately and to agreed deadlines.
  • Assist in the Agreement of Balances exercise between the Trust and other NHS bodies to agreed deadlines.
  • Complete suspense accounts reconciliations on a monthly basis resolving queries to agreed timescales.
  • Save the month end reconciliation pack produced by SBS for receivables and payables and follow up queries to resolution.
  • Assist with specific monthly balance sheet reconciliation's, resolving any issues within an agreed timescale.
  • Responsibility of Timeout Manager for Oracle users,
  • Collate paperwork ready for approval for CHAPS and BACS payments as and when required in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Answer queries, referring to line manager for advice when required. Ensure all queries are responded to efficiently and effectively.
  • Review non purchase order invoices as and when required
  • Process journal entries as part of month and year end procedures.
  • Maintain clear and accurate working papers.
  • Ensure sales orders are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure all non purchase order invoices are directed to the relevant budget holder for coding and approval and that credit notes are chased in a timely manner.
  • Process payment requests in a timely and accurate manner.
