Job Title: Finance Assistant / Accounts Payable Clerk
Department / Location: Finance, Leeds / Homeworking
Reports to: Head of Finance / COFA
Hours of Work: 35 hours a week (between the hours of 09.00-17.00) – 1 hour for lunch (some flexibility may be required according to workloads).
Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive Finance Assistant / Accounts Payable Clerk to join our busy Finance team. You'll play a key role in Finance Operations and will be responsible for processing invoices, handling expenses, preparing month-end journals and supporting various finance and cashiering tasks. Accuracy, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential. You’ll also gain exposure to tools like Concur, Liberate and D365.
You’ll be part of a supportive and friendly Finance team and help ensure we meet internal deadlines and comply with the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts. Adhering to all service levels expected from the Finance Department is important part of the role.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsibilities will be rotated and as such, the role will cover each of the following areas:
- Process and record supplier invoices accurately and promptly
- Maintain and update purchase ledger spreadsheets.
- Liaise with department heads to get invoice approval.
- Reviewing Creditors reports and follow up on supplier statements
- Manage employee expense claims using Concur.
- Support daily banking tasks and cheque processing.
- Be willing to learn tasks in wider Finance team, assisting on all cashiering issues, field and deal with queries, ensuring filing is kept up to date on a daily basis, and any other ad-hoc duties
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a high-volume accounts or finance role
- Familiarity with Concur or other expense management tools
- Strong Excel, outlook skills, liberate experience will be helpful.
- Good communication skills.
- Proactive mind-set with curiosity to learn.
- Be able to challenge the existing processes to find technology led solutions.
- Finance education/qualification is preferred e.g. AAT Level 1 or above, any Accounting Certificates or an accounting Honours degree.
