Job Description
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused Finance Apprentice to join our team. In this role, you’ll provide vital accounts support, working closely with our finance teams, operations teams, and suppliers. You’ll be involved in everything from processing purchase invoices and assisting with weekly payment runs to managing supplier data and compiling financial reports.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional finance environment while working towards fully funded qualifications, building the skills and knowledge for a successful career in accounting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing and matching invoices and credit notes, ensuring accuracy and timely entry for weekly payment runs.
- Assisting with weekly BACS payments and reporting on outstanding invoices to sites and the UK Financial Controller.
- Maintaining accurate supplier records, setting up new accounts, and reviewing supplier statements to ensure all invoices are received.
- Supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and other finance team activities.
- Responding to supplier and internal queries in a professional, helpful manner.
- Ensuring compliance with finance controls, company policies, and procedures.
- Providing cover for colleagues during absences and contributing to wider finance projects as needed.
Qualifications
Essential:
- GCSEs (grades A*–C / 9–4) including Maths and English.
- A-Level (or equivalent) in Business, Maths, or related subjects.
- Confident user of Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks.
Desirable:
- An understanding of basic finance or accounting principles.
- Awareness of business processes.
- Experience producing reports or analysing financial data (can be from study, part-time work, or volunteering).
Personal Qualities:
- A genuine interest in developing a career in finance and accounting.
- Team player with a positive, professional approach.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Additional Information
Working Hours:
- This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During term time, 7.5 of those hours will be dedicated to your apprenticeship training, giving you time to focus on your studies while gaining hands-on experience in the workplace.
Salary:
- Starting £23,809.50.
