Farm Vet – LLM Farm Vets, Whitchurch, Shropshire
Are you wanting to join a close-knit team of progressive farm vets who are pushing the standards of dairy vetting, delivering expertise and advice to their farmers?
Come work with us! We’re looking for someone to bring new ideas into the fold, sharing and developing their experience within our team to strengthen our collective offering.
The Role:
We’re looking for someone who wants to grow; learning from our experienced team while developing their own interests through further training (and doing!).
We value those who challenge the status quo and don’t believe in standing still: not everything we try will work, but we’re happy to experiment and learn from our failings. We will happily support projects you think will positively impact our team and clients, and we hope you can share unique perspectives gained in previous roles.
Client relationships are at the heart of what we do, and we’re looking for a vet who wants to build these with our farmers during routine dairy herd health work. A decent grasp of cattle reproduction and ultrasound is needed to help the conversation flow, as we’d like you to getting involved straight away. Opportunities to work with our wider client-base can be developed through discussion and benchmarking groups as well as health planning.
We believe that sharing is caring – our farmers benefit from having two vets involved in their farm, and communication between vets (as well as with farmers) is an essential skill. Working within our 30-strong Whitchurch team, including 12 clinical vets, our team ethos and collaborative approach is our strength.
We’re not afraid of hard work and are seeking someone who wants to get stuck in from the start, joining our 1 in 10 rota and covering the day-to-day emergencies of a busy dairy-focussed practice. Confidence handling cases out-of-hours and a solid base of surgical skills would be expected, typical of those with at least 2 years’ experience of farm vetting under their belt. We are also involved with vet school teaching, farmer training, product and germplasm export and sheep / cattle AI & embryo transfer – and we are always keen to support those looking to develop in these areas.
If this sounds like a role that would suit you, please still get in touch. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, enjoys working as a team and is a problem solver. Ideally, we are seeking a full-time vet to join our team, but for the right person we could be flexible with days / hours.
First in the Field:
Founded in 1999, we were the first farm animal only veterinary practice in the UK; and have led by example in the increasing professionalisation and specialisation of farm vets. We have grown to a multi-site business, with more than 30 vets working in our practices across the Midlands and North West of England. From our original base in Whitchurch, we continue to deliver expertise to our clients across Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and North Wales. We are a very close team with a social culture and strong core values: positivity and proactivity, innovation and integrity, empathy, efficiency and effectiveness. Our team is made up of experienced farm clinicians, Vet Techs, TB vets, approved TB testers, embryo transfer specialists and a brilliant support team who keep everything ticking.
As a practice, we are part of the VetPartners group, and we fully embrace the benefits of being part of the wider VetPartners Farm family. We maximise the use of technology and data collection through Kingshay and Digifarm to allow you to have all the relevant information at the touch of a button, saving time and increasing efficiency to create more time for the finer things in life! Several of our team are active in VetPartners farm network including clinical board governance and training programmes. There are plenty of opportunities to get stuck into!
