Role Overview:
The European Customs Clerk will be responsible for processing import and export customs clearances across various European countries. You will work closely with clients, customs authorities, and internal operations teams to ensure shipments move smoothly across borders while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit customs declarations for European imports and exports
- Classify goods using the correct commodity codes and ensure all relevant duty and VAT regulations are applied correctly
- Ensure compliance with EU and UK customs laws, post-Brexit procedures, and other applicable regulations
- Liaise with clients, customs agents, carriers, and authorities to resolve any documentation or clearance issues
- Manage and verify key documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, CMRs, and origin certificates
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely customs release
- Input and maintain accurate records within customs and freight systems
- Stay updated on changes in customs procedures across the UK and EU
- Support internal teams and clients with guidance on customs compliance and best practices
Requirements:
- 1–2 years of experience in a customs clearance or freight forwarding role (European focus preferred)
- Working knowledge of UK and EU customs procedures, especially post-Brexit requirements
- Experience using customs software platforms (e.g., Descartes, ASM Sequoia, CargoWise, or similar)
- Understanding of Incoterms, HS codes, and import/export documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Familiarity with CDS (UK), NCTS, and transit documentation
- Experience in both road and multimodal customs processes (air/sea)

Pay: £22,880.00-£35,000.00 per year
