Make a real difference behind the scenes. Help us maintain a safe, welcoming and beautiful environment for all who live, learn and work at St Elizabeth’s.
About the role
We’re looking for a practical, proactive and safety-conscious Estates and Maintenance Operative to join our hardworking Estates Team.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining our 60-acre countryside site — from planned repairs and reactive maintenance to keeping outdoor spaces tidy, secure and ready to use. One day you might be mowing lawns or unblocking drains, and the next, checking vehicle safety or helping with a repair in one of our residential homes or school buildings.
This is a hands-on role that’s vital to the smooth running of our site and facilities — and you'll be part of a supportive team that takes pride in what they do.
What you’ll do:
- Carry out general repairs, grounds work and maintenance tasks
- Support site safety by clearing snow, gritting pathways and maintaining lighting and fencing
- Operate and maintain tools, vehicles and machinery (training provided if needed)
- Work with the team to carry out seasonal groundskeeping and weed control
- Safely handle and store chemicals and equipment in line with health and safety procedures
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and help keep the site clean, safe and fully functional
About you:
You’re a team player with a “can-do” attitude who’s comfortable getting stuck in — whether it’s fixing a loose tile, helping with deliveries, or keeping our vehicle fleet clean and ready.
You’ll also bring:
✅ Experience in a hands-on maintenance or grounds-based role
✅ Knowledge of health & safety procedures and safe use of tools
✅ A full UK driving licence
✅ A flexible approach to varied tasks and priorities
✅ A positive, reliable attitude and commitment to quality
