HOURS: Full Time. As we work to 100:80:100 full time equates to 4 days (28 hours) per week. Some evening and weekend work may be required as part of this role.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The role will focus on supporting aspects of our participatory work within Contact as well as Agency Alumni. This role will also support in providing pastoral care and support to our participants and Agency Alumni.

The role will support the smooth-running of projects focused on young people and the community, providing administrative assistance on our engagement and community development work, supporting events and projects related to our youth participation activities and supporting conversations with schools, partners and community groups to increase participation.

MAIN TASKS

  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer, and promote good practice in safeguarding across the organisation.
  • Manage budgets and resources allocated by the Head of Engagement.
  • Manage the Media Lounge space in Contact, including equipment management, space tidiness, commercial and community bookings etc.
  • Work with the Head of Engagement to identify and build partnerships with community organisations to drive participation and create a strong and relevant community offer
  • Delivery of projects and events that form part of a high-quality participation and Education offer.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Comms department to seek outreach and promotional activity to engage young people and ensure engagement meets our funder targets.
  • Deliver as a facilitator on one of Contact’s core projects (could be music, drama, poetry, leadership development).
  • Work with the Head of Engagement to foster strong relationships with schools and colleges.
  • Engage in outreach activities to recruit a diverse range of young participants to our projects from across Greater Manchester.
  • Support on the successful delivery of in-house projects focussed on youth leadership, music and drama.
  • Support our evaluation activities of our various youth projects and activities, using our model of youth consultation to continually drive improvement and innovation of our work.
  • Provide pastoral support and care for our young participants at Contact, supporting safe engagement in our activities and making referrals to external partners where required.
  • Support our Engagement Team in delivering a strong and relevant community offer.
  • Ensure that Artifax, our venue management system, reflects the participation schedule and is updated with contractual and other related documentation.
  • Collection of statistical data relating to the programme that is required for quarterly and annual reporting to our core funders.

The Agency

  • Support alumni from The Agency to continue to delivery of their projects after cycle 2.
  • Support Agents that were not funded to continue the development of their projects.
  • Act as community network connector for The Agency and other Contact participants.
  • Work closely with The Agency Project Manager to support Agents as they transition out of the formal programme.
  • Work with The Agency National Team where appropriate on facilitating National work, such as The National Gathering.
  • Work closely with The Marketing and Communications Team at Contact and The Agency to gather and share stories and contact about The Agents and their projects.
  • Support on fundraising and budget management of custodian funds for alumni projects.
  • Act as a touch point for Agency Alumni, to keep them connected to Contact and The Agency.
  • Organise regular catch ups for alumni agents.

GENERAL

  • Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required in connection with the position.
  • Keep up to date with developments within the arts and youth culture.
  • Represent Contact at external events as required.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with all Contact’s partner organisations.
  • Get involved with creative work being presented by Contact by attending workshops, read-throughs, rehearsals and performances on a regular basis.
  • Follow Contact’s Health & Safety policy, undertaking duties as required and ensure reasonable care is taken to maintain a healthy and safe place for public and staff.
  • Actively commit to Contact’s Equal Opportunities policy and Contact’s Safeguarding of Young People policy.
  • Actively commit to Contact’s anti- racism working practices.
  • Advise and report regularly on activity as required by the wider Senior Management Team, Board and sub-boards, supplying any data required to meet funder reporting requirements.
  • Provide mentoring and support to young people and on occasions deliver training/workshops in areas relevant to your job role.
  • In line with Contact’s governance model, pro-actively engage young people in decision-making through consultations, young people’s panels and other mechanisms relevant to your job role.
  • Manage all personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulations, using the Spektrix database as directed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience working in arts participation and creative arts projects
  • Experience of working with young people aged 13-30.
  • Experience of collating data, including qualitative and quantitative and presenting in a concise manner
  • Confidence in reaching out to new partners and nurturing mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Ability to work collaboratively with young people and communities, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of music production, using Logic Pro.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent standards of practice when working in participatory settings.
  • Strong computer literacy and confidence in using Microsoft Office
  • Passionate about creating and delivering high quality opportunities for young people to take part in the arts and cultural education
  • Self-reliant with the ability to work on own initiative, prioritise and organise workload, and meet deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of safeguarding standards and procedures

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of a creative practice, such as art, music, drama or dance
  • Experience working within the communities of which Contact serves
  • Current knowledge of formal education sector, and of creative and cultural learning
  • Experience of delivering, facilitating or co-facilitating workshops to young people in a creative setting.
