We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed member of staff to work as part of the Education Welfare Service to support our work with our home educated learners and their families.
The post will support our learners across Torfaen delivering and supporting the statutory duties in regard to Elective Home Education (EHE) and its underpinning duty to ensure that children concerned have access to an education that is suitable to their age, aptitude and any additional learning needs.
The postholder will be part of first point of contact for schools and parents/ carers to discuss Elective Home Education and will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to parents regarding provision of a suitable, full-time and efficient education, ensuring children and young people are receiving a suitable education. The post will also support the planning for children and young people where they have chosen to return to school following being home educated. The post holder will be expected to take the appropriate legal action if a child is not in receipt of a suitable education, including issuing a school attendance order (SAO) or applying for an Education Supervision Order (ESO) where necessary
The postholder will work in close liaison with schools, support services and other agencies, to plan for pupils and ensure all Torfaen pupils irrespective of their individual backgrounds, circumstances or difficulties can derive the maximum benefit from their learning.
