In conjunction with and supported by the Designated Training Officer, the Trainee Echocardiographer will be responsible for their own progression through the training programme, completing a mixture of theory and practical sessions to help them prepare for and completing the BSE Transthoracic Accreditation process.
A major part of the training and development will take place within a specified host NHS organisation and is integrally linked to the knowledge and applied learning that forms part of the nationally recognised BSE accreditation programme. Post holders will also be expected to undertake mandatory training as deemed necessary by their host NHS Organisation.

The trainee will learn how to perform and interpret clinical, and specialist scientific processes underpinned by theoretical and applied knowledge and practical experience and will learn how to:
- Perform and interpret routine cardiac investigations.
- Perform specialised diagnostics investigations.
- Carry out complex scientific and clinical roles, including those working directly with patients.
- Analyse and interpret and data compare investigative and clinical options.
- Make judgements, including clinical and differential judgements, involving complicated facts or situations that impact on patients.
- Initiate and undertake innovation, improvement and R&D and be involved in the education of healthcare science trainees and other learners in the workplace.

We are looking for individuals keen to specialise in echocardiography through completing the BSE recognised; Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography; this will be fully funded by the Trust.

To achieve our echo wait time standard consistently and to provide equitable direct access to GPs in local communities, we are looking to recruit a number of Specialist Cardiac Physiologists as part of our community diagnostic centres project. Our vision is to ensure that, a consistently high-quality service is delivered to our patients locally to enhance patient experience through reduced wait times and commute.
