A well-established primary school in Carlisle seek a dedicated Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant to support and inspire young learners in Reception and Nursery. This long-term temporary role offers the potential to transition to permanent for the right candidate.
The Role
You will work closely with class teachers to deliver high-quality, engaging early years experiences. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting differentiated learning activities across the EYFS curriculum
- Assisting children with SEND in both small-group and one-to-one contexts
- Maintaining records of observation and progress
- Promoting a caring, inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
- Level 3 qualification in Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Early Years
- Experience working with young children, ideally in an early years setting
- SEND experience is beneficial—able to adapt activities and provide individual support
- Patient, enthusiastic, and child-centred, with strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a dedicated staff team

Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm. Open to full‑time or part‑time applicants.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
