Overview:
We are looking to appoint a Driver Debrief Clerk to support our busy Transport team. This critical role ensures that driver briefings and debriefs are carried out consistently, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and accurate documentation. Working closely with drivers, planners, and customer service teams, the postholder will help to maintain operational performance and ensure that transport activities are completed in line with legal and internal standards.
Based at either our Wakefield or Corby site, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic logistics operation where attention to detail, responsiveness, and excellent interpersonal skills are key. This role includes working rotating early and late shifts across a five-day week.
Location: Corby, Curver Way.
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off day shift (06:30 - 18:30).
Salary: Negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct structured end-of-shift debriefs with drivers, capturing feedback, incidents, and performance issues
- Deliver pre-shift briefings including route specifics, delivery instructions, safety reminders, and vehicle checks
- Verify driver licence status and adherence to working time regulations
- Accurately process PODs, delivery documentation, and compliance paperwork
- Investigate and resolve POD-related queries by liaising with delivery sites and internal teams
- Update transport systems including the Yard Management System with live load details.
Requirements:
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths
- At least 3 years’ experience in a transport, logistics, or customer-facing administrative role
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Strong sense of accountability and professional integrity
- Excellent teamwork and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Further qualification in transport operations or logistics administration
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and transport management systems (e.g. YMS)
- Experience handling POD queries and maintaining audit trails
- Record and monitor driver absence, escalating concerns where trends are identified
- Input and track non-conformance reports to support operational learning
- Coordinate in real-time with planning and traffic control colleagues to mitigate disruption
- Engage with customers where needed to resolve issues courteously and professionally
- Maintain secure, compliant records of all driver interactions and transport documentation
