Overview
The Domestic Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of housekeeping across the School. This role ensures the cleanliness and presentation of all facilities, supporting the effective day-to-day running of the School as well as school events, lettings, and other commercial activities. The postholder has line management responsibility for the domestic team.
Specific Responsibilities
Cleaning and Laundry
- Ensure all areas of the School are maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness, assisting with cleaning tasks when required.
- Establish and monitor cleaning standards across the entire site, including boarding houses, carrying out regular audits to maintain quality.
- Develop and deliver appropriate training for all cleaning staff, including health and safety and COSHH compliance, ensuring consistent understanding and implementation of standards.
- Support an effective laundry service to the boarders and to support functions, ensuring it provides a quality service. Provide cover during periods of absence of the laundry assistant
General
1. Recruit, train, and line-manage domestic staff, including undertaking staff appraisals.
2. Work collaboratively with the Boarding Team to support pupil needs.
3. Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils at Leweston School.
4. Carry out any other reasonable duties as delegated by the Operations Manager. (Note: responsibilities may evolve over time as required by the needs of the School.)
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience in managing staff, with the ability to lead, motivate, and support a diverse team.
- Strong understanding of issues relevant to domestic staff, with a proactive approach to handling staffing matters.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with an energetic, flexible, and adaptable approach to work.
- A team player with the confidence and initiative to work independently when required.
