Role Overview
The Depot Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Depot, ensuring that all activities related to safe receipt, storage, sortation and despatch of HIVED customer’s parcels. This role includes supervising Depot staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating workflows to meet operational goals. The Depot Supervisor must have excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of Depot processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead daily depot operations, ensuring all processes are followed in line with company policies and performance standards.
- Allocate and monitor team tasks to ensure operational efficiency, accuracy, and timely completion of all duties.
- Coach, train, and support depot staff on procedures, safety standards, and performance expectations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee parcel handling activities, including unloading, labelling, sortation, and dispatch, ensuring high standards of quality and service.
- Monitor the accuracy of outbound shipments to maintain service-level agreements and customer satisfaction.
- Enforce health and safety compliance across the depot, conducting regular inspections and ensuring all incidents are reported and addressed.
- Ensure depot equipment is maintained in safe, operational condition and used correctly by all team members.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and support the implementation of process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, including Planning, Network, Driver Engagement, and Customer Service, to ensure seamless operations.
- Support administrative tasks such as operational reporting, performance tracking, and maintaining accurate records of goods and dispatches.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Depot Supervisor or in a similar role in Depot operations.
- Strong understanding of Depot management systems (WMS) processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Shift-based role: 4 days on, 4 days off, working from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including a 1-hour break. Shifts will include weekends and bank holidays if they fall within the employee’s rotation.
