Are you looking for a new challenge? Turning Point Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service are looking for 2 experienced workers to join their expanding criminal justice team. These roles are part of a new initiative to support people who have drug and/or alcohol issues and have been given a community order from the courts. You will be based at Turning Point premises and outreach locations and will attend probation services and magistrates court.

As a Recovery Worker – we offer a starting salary of £25,116 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £29,383 per year. (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

We are a countywide service and this role is based in either East Somerset or West Somerset.

Role Responsibility

  • Be the point of contact for Probation and Turning Point for the people who are supported by both services.
  • Carry a designated complex caseload of people we support within the criminal justice system who are working with Probation and Turning Point.
  • Conduct assessments of need and risk assessments and formulate risk management plans and plans that recognise the personal goals of the person we support.
  • Effective partnership working and coordinate multi-agency meetings when appropriate.
  • Offer client focus interventions that are underpinned by evidence and build on best practice;
  • Participate in meetings and be confident and competent at presenting cases orally and through written reports.
  • Ensuring achievement of key performance indicators relevant to your role.
  • Delivering internal and external learning events and representing Probation and Turning Point.

Role specifics:

  • To carry out substance use assessments including assessment of personal strengths and identification of any risk factors.
  • Formulate, monitor and review risk assessments and risk management plans that effectively safeguard and protect service users and families/carers from harm.
  • Effective multiagency working with statutory and non-statutory agencies in relation to the wider presenting needs and complexities of service users.
  • Deliver and support harm reduction interventions, including needle exchange and access to physical health care including BBV and health screening

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Requirements

  • To build strong professional relationships with partner agencies;
  • Ability to manage own diary and prioritise commitments;
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to keep timely and concise records;
  • Knowledge of drugs and alcohol and the criminal justice system;
  • Access to a car and a driving licence as the role will include traveling
  • Good level of IT skills
